happy gilmore: game changer

6 05 2009

In the 60s, the sport of track & field witnessed a revolution in the high jump event when Dick Fosbury “flopped” over the bar and onto his back instead of scissor kicking over it. The event was revolutionized. Pro basketball players today look like they are playing the game on a planet with a different gravitational pull when you view them side by side with pro players from the early days. Yet if you put legendary golfers Bobby Jones or Sam Snead next to Tiger or Phil Mickelson, the basics of their games probably look pretty unchanged from one era of players to the next.

Where’s the innovation golf dudes?

I’ll tell you where: Happy Gilmore.
